No more choosing between armour and flight. Combine any chestplate with an elytra in an anvil to forge an Armored Elytra — a single chestplate-slot item that gives you both.
How to make one
- Put your chestplate in the left anvil slot, your elytra in the right slot.
- Take the Armored Elytra from the output.
- Equip it in your chestplate slot.
To separate them again, place the Armored Elytra in a grindstone. You get both original items back with their enchantments intact.

The Armored Elytra renders both layers visually — you'll see the chestplate armour on your body and the wings open while gliding.
