Sniffers can dig up Cobblemon items alongside the vanilla plants. Each successful dig has a 60% chance to roll a Cobblemon drop on top of whatever flora the Sniffer would normally surface.

Getting a Sniffer

  1. Find a Sniffer egg by brushing suspicious sand in Warm Ocean Ruins.
  2. Place the egg on a warm block to hatch.
  3. Let the Sniffer roam on grass, dirt, or moss — it will dig automatically.
The Warm Ocean Ruins archaeology drop is vanilla Minecraft behaviour. PBG doesn't override it.

What you can dig up

The Cobblemon pool entries and their roll weights:

ItemWeightPer-dig share*
Relic Coin (1–4)45~36%
Type Gem (any)15~12%
Relic Coin Pouch12~10%
Tumblestone (1–3)12~10%
Black Tumblestone (1–3)9~7%
Sky Tumblestone (1–3)9~7%
Any single fossil1 each × 17~14% combined

*Share is within the 60% roll. Multiply by 0.6 for the overall per-dig odds.

The 17 fossils cover every Cobblemon revive: Helix, Dome, Old Amber, Root, Claw, Skull, Armor, Cover, Plume, Jaw, Sail, and the rest of the Gen 5–7 set.

A secondary fallback pool can also produce Vivichoke Seeds, Revival Herb, Mental / Power / Mirror / White Herb, Big Root, and Energy Root.

Passive farms

A fenced field with two or three Sniffers produces a steady stream of fossils, tumblestones, and Relic Coins while you do other things. Pair with a hopper run along the dig line and the drops collect themselves.
