A Catch Combo is the count of consecutive catches of the same species. The higher your combo, the better the bonuses on every spawn of that species.

How it works

  1. Catch a Pokémon — combo starts at 1.
  2. Keep catching the same species — count goes up by 1 each catch.
  3. Tier thresholds unlock perfect IVs, shiny bonuses, extra spawns, and hidden-ability rolls.
  4. Catch a different species — the combo resets.

Comboed species also glow in the world, so you can spot the next target at a distance.

  • Perfect IVs — guaranteed perfect stats on spawned Pokémon.
  • Shiny bonus — added to the base shiny chance (baseline 1/11000).
  • Extra-spawn chance — chance for an additional same-species Pokémon to spawn nearby.
  • Hidden-ability chance — chance for the spawn to roll its hidden ability.

What breaks your combo

Catching any of the following resets the count:

  • A different species than the one you're comboing.
  • A shiny of any species.
  • A legendary or mythical Pokémon.
  • A blacklisted species.

Catching an Ultra Beast does NOT break the combo. Neither does a shiny spawning without you catching it — only the catch itself counts. Encountering or battling a different species without catching it leaves the combo intact too.

Bad-luck mitigation

After 200 consecutive catches without a shiny appearing, the shiny chance starts ramping up by 0.1 per catch. Dedicated shiny hunters get a guaranteed payoff window even on bad RNG.

Ditto combos

When comboing Ditto, perfect IVs cap at 3 regardless of tier. Other tier bonuses still apply.
