What the Battle Frontier is
The Battle Frontier is PBG's post-game PvE endgame — a cluster of specialised battle facilities that open up once you've cleared the Voltera Champion. Each facility has its own ruleset, its own opponent pool, and pays out in Battle Points (BP) spendable at the Frontier shop.
It sits at the very top of the PvE ladder: above every gym, above the Royal League, above the Zenith Champion. It's the "you've cleared everything, what now?" content.
The gate
Frontier access unlocks when you defeat the Voltera Champion — a separate region with its own Champion, distinct from Zenith's Champion Leon. Clearing Leon opens the Zenith rematch ladder and the Royal League warp; clearing the Voltera Champion is what opens the Frontier.
Voltera is still in development. The Frontier mod is loaded on the live server but the player-facing system stays locked until Voltera ships.
The facilities
The Frontier launches with at least five facility types, each with its own format. More are planned as Voltera development continues.
| Facility | Format | What makes it different |
|---|---|---|
| Battle Tower | Bring-your-own team | A climbing floor count with boss fights at floor 10 and a legendary encounter at floor 100. Level cap 50, team of three. |
| Battle Factory | Rental Pokémon | Pick three from six offered rentals; no held items, no Mega/Tera/Dynamax. Swap one mon after each win. Team size grows with the role of your opponent (3 for early stages, up to 6 against bosses). |
| Battle Arcade | Modifier-based | Roulette-style format with shifting battle modifiers. Ruleset finalised at launch. |
| Battle Castle | Resource management | Currency-and-supply facility where what you spend between battles matters. Ruleset finalised at launch. |
| Battle Pyramid | Dungeon-style | Multi-floor facility with progression between battles. Ruleset finalised at launch. |
Expect more facilities and zones to layer on as the system grows — the launch list is a starting point, not the cap.
Rewards
Frontier facilities pay out in Battle Points (BP), earned per win and bonused on streak milestones. Floor 100 of the Battle Tower drops a legendary key on top of its BP payout. Bonus item drops roll on a small chance per fight — capsules, exp candies, ability capsules, Poké Balls.
The BP shop sells Frontier-exclusive consumables and bundles: rare candy bundles, ultra ball bundles, ability capsules, size essences, and more.
How this relates to other systems
- Battle Factory as a standalone system is being replaced. The Battle Factory you may have seen in older docs ships inside the Frontier umbrella. The Battle Factory page is the coming-soon stub for that facility; this page is the canonical home.
- Zenith Champion Leon is not the Frontier gate. Clearing Leon opens the Zenith rematch ladder and Royal League warp. The Frontier waits on the Voltera Champion. See The Zenith Region for the disambiguation note already on that page.
- The Frontier is not the competitive ladder. PvP competitive play is a separate system — see Ranked.
