Dynamax is the Generation 8 battle gimmick — a Pokémon supersizes for a few turns, gaining a massive HP boost and access to Max Moves. Pokémon with the Gigantamax (Gmax) factor take on a unique form.

Where Dynamax Is Allowed

• Open play — Dynamax isn't obtainable on PBG right now — the mechanic exists in the game, but nothing currently grants the band that enables it
• Ranked — Dynamax is disabled in the current season regardless (see Ranked)

Gmax Raids

The most common way most players run into Dynamax is through Gmax raids. The hourly raid pool includes a Gmax category — a roster of Gigantamax bosses that show up in their oversized forms. See Raids for the schedule and rewards.

What's On the Server

• Dynamax Band — the accessory that lets your own Pokémon Dynamax in battle

A Wishing Star is affixed to the Band — it's the in-game source of Dynamax energy. Nothing on the server currently grants one, so hold off on the SP Shop's Dynamax Candy, Max Mushrooms, and Max Soup — they're consumables for the Dynamax mechanic and do nothing without a Band to use them on.
