Lucky Race is a staff-started arena event. It isn't on a timer — when staff open a round, everyone online sees a chat announcement with a JOIN THE QUEUE button.

Up to 12 players are taken to their own arena and each builds a team from scratch: break lucky blocks, catch what jumps out, then battle each other in a knockout bracket. Last trainer standing wins.

The short version: join → catch six Pokémon with the six Master Balls you're given → grab held items from chests → win single battles until you're the only one left.

Joining

Click JOIN THE QUEUE in the announcement, or run /luckyrace join. Changed your mind? /luckyrace leave takes you out of the queue — it only works before the round starts.

If the queue is closed, full, or a round is already running, you'll be told so — wait for the next one.

You don't need to bring anything. Your inventory and your Pokémon party are safely stored when the round begins and handed back when you leave, however your round ends.

Phase 1 — catch a team of six

After a short countdown — GO! — you're let loose in the arena. A boss bar at the top of your screen counts down the time left.

Break lucky blocks

The arena is scattered with lucky blocks — about 16 per player in the round. Break one and a wild Pokémon between level 60 and 100 jumps out where it stood. Arceus never appears.

Broken blocks are slowly replaced: a new one spawns somewhere in the arena for every two that are broken, so they get scarcer as the round goes on.

Catch it with your Master Balls

At the start you're handed six Master Balls marked as yours — one for each slot in your party. A Master Ball never fails, so pick what you want and throw.

If a throw misses and the ball lands on the ground, go and pick it back up — nobody else can take your balls, and you can't take theirs.

Loot the chests

Chests around the arena hold 1–3 competitive held items each — Focus Sash, Choice Band, Choice Specs, Choice Scarf, Life Orb, Leftovers, Eviolite, Assault Vest, Heavy-Duty Boots, Loaded Dice, the type-boosting items and more. There are a few fixed chests plus 10 random chests per player, so bigger rounds mean more loot. Give the items to your team before the tournament.

Fill your party

Once you've caught six, you're done — you're moved to the waiting room to wait for everyone else. When every player has a full team, the tournament starts early.

The catching phase lasts 7 minutes at most.

Catch something. If the timer runs out and you have no Pokémon — or nothing able to battle — you're eliminated. Dying in the arena also knocks you out of the round.

Phase 2 — the tournament

When time's up (or everyone has six), every remaining player enters a single-elimination tournament.

  • Each round, players are paired up and teleported to one of the arena's battlefields for a singles battle — one Pokémon out on each side, using the team you caught.
  • Both teams are fully healed before every match, so a rough previous round doesn't carry over.
  • Win and you're sent back to the waiting room for the next round. Lose or forfeit and you're out.
  • With an odd number of players left, one gets a bye and moves straight on.
  • It keeps going until only one trainer is left.
While you're in a round, most commands are switched off — only /me, /msg and /luckyrace still work. Logging out removes you from the round; you get your things back next time you join.

Winning

The winner is announced to the whole server and gets:

RewardAmountChance
Lucky Trophy (a decoration you can place)1Always
Diamonds3–5Always
Emeralds5Always
Rare Candy3–875%
Master Ball125%
Only the winner gets a prize — everyone else just gets their own things back. The Pokémon, Master Balls and held items from the race stay in the race: when your round ends, your party and inventory go back to exactly how they were before you joined.

Tips

  • Don't grab the first thing you see. There are lots of lucky blocks and only six balls — skip anything weak and keep breaking. A level-95 Pokémon is worth more than a level-61 one.
  • Build a team, not a pile. You'll battle one Pokémon at a time, so try to cover a few different types.
  • Loot early. The chests are what turn a random team into a real one — a Choice Scarf or Focus Sash can win a match on its own.
  • Watch the boss bar. If time is nearly up, fill your last slots with anything you can catch — five Pokémon still beats being knocked out.
  • Stay alive. You can't go back in once you're knocked out, so watch your step and your hunger.
